GATHERING TEA AND OREGANO

SEASON

Summer

The unique biodiversity and stone soil of the Olympian land, produce rare gifts such as tea and wild oregano. Known since antiquity for their antibacterial, antioxidant and therapeutic effects, as well as for their robust aromas and wonderful taste, they have found in Olympus the ideal conditions to grow. You will come across them on the southern slopes of the mountain, mostly in the area of Karya and at Kalyvia. The best time to gather them is by the end of June up until August. It’s best to go either early in the morning or late at night to avoid the high temperatures of summer. Use scissors or a knife and make sure you do not uproot them so that they bloom again.
