The village of Kalyvia is located 20km from Elassona, belonging to the Municipality of Elassona. It constitutes the shortest route towards Olympus and requires a 4Χ4 jeep for the off-road destinations and for reaching the Christaki Emergency Refuge (2.550m). The bare, wild beauty of the landscape that you meet the higher you ascend is combined with the pastoral quietness of the Thessalian Valley emerging far-off in the background. 
The refuge features a fireplace and can accommodate up to ten hikers. 
Nearby Kalyvia, a sky-diving and parachuting plateau keeps adrenaline levels high and hosts world championships.
